I posted some Cooper research a few weeks ago in response to someone
ele's query but here's a summary:

Cooper's claim that he was a "Naval Intelligence Officer" with access to
top secret UFO material has been discredited.  In fact, he was an enlisted
man, not an officer, discharged in 1975 after serving for about
3 years as quartermaster for an intelligence briefing team.  The
highest rank he achieved in all his 14 years in the Navy was QM1,
pay-grade E6, hardly a level that would have access to the top secret
information he reports.

In the sense that Cooper posted it on BBSs around the country, yes.  But
it's clear he made it all up.

He was on a radio program about two years ago in Las Vegas and ran into
a buzz saw.  He was so thoroughly discredited by a knowlegeable UFO
researcher that he simply faded away.

I'm sure if you pay his expenses and anything over $2.00 an hour he'd
be glad for the attention.

There is no such thing.  Cooper's "JFK Video" is a snippent from the
Zapruder film.  Besides, the JFK/UFO conspiracy is John Lear's thing,
not Cooper's.

Check out "Alien Harvest" by Linda Moulton Howe.  She includes an appendix
with both the original and revised Cooper postings.

Funny you should say that.  Recently, Bill Cooper said that all his
Operation Majority files were fakes, written by someone else to discredit
him.  I don't buy that story.  But for what it's worth, I think he's trying
to get away from the aliens and concentrate on the One World Government
-type conspiracy theories.  He seemed to be moving in that direction even
before he denounced his own files.

See above.  Also, in case you didn't know, he has a history of denouncing
anyone who questions him as a part of the conspiracy, and even threatening
such people.  This includes fellow UFOlogists and conspiracy theorists!
(Not to mention the fact that he says he read the O. H. Krill file years
ago, when in fact it was made up in 1988 by John Lear and John Grace.)

I wouldn't spend my money on it.

I don't know about FTP, but if there's a ParaNet BBS in your area you could
probably find all of his files, plus files about or by John Lear, Bill
English, and Bob Lazar.

First, I don't want to get into any protracted discussions about Bill Cooper.
All I can say is that we, ParaNet, had a great deal of experience with Bill
Cooper, up to and including ejecting him from the net for causing a variety of
disruptions, not to mention strong attacks on other members of the net that
were counter-productive to intelligent discussion.  Our organization has
investigated Cooper to the max and can find no truth in anything he says
except that he was in the Navy, but not in the capacity that he claims.
Further, the tape of the JFK driver has obviously been altered.  I have a copy
of that tape and I have no doubt in my mind that someone has edited it to make
it look like the driver.  The bottom line is that Bill Cooper just doesn't
hold water, so anything he says should be taken with a large block of salt and
tongue planted firmly in cheek.
